There are a lot of options out there for your senior photos. You can work with the school’s recommended photographer, another professional photographer, a friend, or find anyone with a “good enough” camera and go play in a field somewhere.
I’m all for playing in a field somewhere with a friend – not someone you don’t know, but a friend. Or better yet, a group of friends! It’s how we all learn – experience teaches us so much.
And then when you want really great images that will last a lifetime, call someone who can give you a fun, easy experience, and provide results that you can count on.
What is the difference? Focus.
It all comes down to focus. Focus during the session to make sure YOU are being highlighted for who YOU are. And focus on the details in a session that a true professional can watch for – poses or positions that aren’t flattering, wardrobe malfunctions that show off the wrong things, or stray hairs that fly right across the face in the perfect shot.
Focus on what you want from your session. What do you like? What makes you comfortable enough to not only relax, but enjoy the session? Because great results come from sessions where you aren’t worried about anything!
And true focus. Like, right on your eye – so the depth of field is not just a “blurry background”, but maybe a play with the foreground too – or a great use of light and shadow to bring the eye directly to the subject – YOU.
Do you see the difference? It’s ok to say you don’t like a photograph even if you do like the subject. Not ALL photos of the ones we love are great photos.
Some just miss the focus. Sometimes they miss it literally. Don’t settle for less than focused photos, or a less than focused #seniorphotosession.
