Between the real rain, I’ve had a flood of high school senior boys lately! I’m so behind on this blog I have to make a list of who I haven’t blogged about because I want to showcase all of them if I can. Everyone knows I love sessions with high school seniors – but there is something about a high school senior boy session that is a challenge I especially enjoy. Maybe being a mom of two grown boys myself – well, men now I guess. But when a senior boy comes to the studio I know it’s going to be a challenge to find their “real” smile. And in many cases, they don’t want to share it – which is unlike girls. But with the recent “wave” of the boys, I’m getting LOTS of time to try new things to get those expressions!
Here is Nick – a senior at Woodgrove High School. He’s an active band member there, but also a musician on his own also. I had a chance to hear his own compositions and they are wonderful. I wish I could incorporate them into his portraits in a more active way, so as we do Nick’s next session I’ll be looking for more ways to bring that side of him to his portraits. For this session we took a quick trip to Bear’s Den in Bluemont and found a few niches for some setups. We literally did this session between rain drops, but it worked!
If you haven’t yet had your casual senior photos done, call soon to book any session that you’d like to have happen outdoors this fall. With the short window of time we have leaves turning before they are all down on the ground, and the limited sunlight at the best time of day, we’ll want to get your session scheduled now so you don’t miss the chance! Call (540) 554 8743 or (703) 328 7675 to schedule today!
