Cycles of a Professional Photography Business…{Loudoun County Photography}

Being a professional photographer means lots of ups and downs – with no real rhyme or reason to it so planning is difficult, for sure. August was crazy busy with sessions and re-bookings from hot days in July, too. But September is not full, and October has lots of openings – enough for me to say “hmmm”. I know, I know…my friends will tell me this happens to me EVERY year at this time…but I can’t help but get nervous – there is SO MUCH on the line this year. Major investments made to grow and build the business, the portrait park, the studio. All of those investments were done carefully, but still…it’s a gamble in a small business.

I have been doing a number of things that never made it to the blog – for various reasons, but mostly for timing. I’m fortunate to have wonderful senior reps this year who are so much fun to work with. I had an amazing opportunity to work with the Loudoun County Chamber of Commerce Women in Business’s Fall Fashion Preview in August too. A wonderful event that had the bonus of benefiting the TigerLily Foundation this year. I worked with the drama department at Loudoun Valley to produce posters of past events for their club to promote itself at Viking Fest. I met some new folks who came into the studio for new corporate images. And I continued my Herbert Dental Smile sessions, began holiday card sessions, and even found time to photograph my own family a few times. So all in all, a busy, busy, August for sure!

Here are a few of the images that never made it to the blog in August – just a random drawing of some of them so you can see I’m staying busy!
